Michael Jackson was an inimitable icon of pop music and stood at the top. His untimely death in 2009 became headlines as was everything he did in life. Many grieved and missed the King of Pop when he was found dead in is quarters while preparing for a comeback tour. Friends, fans, and family grieved and were in shock especially when the bothersome reports surrounding his death started coming out.

Autopsy reports reveal much

According to initial reports, Jackson died due to an overdose of propofol, a chemical used mostly for anesthesia. Recently revealed autopsy reports showed that there was indeed ample amount of propofol in Jackson’s body. It was also determined that the substance was regularly administered to the singer. Misuse or any overdose of this substance can cause permanent and irreparable damage to a person or at the worst case scenario, death.

Jackson’s family allegedly accused AEG Live, the concert promoter for the King of Pop’s world tour, as having been liable for Jackson’s death. The family insists that AEG Live should be responsible for giving and appointing a doctor assigned to Michael for his regular medical care. However, AEG Live argued that Dr. Conrad Murray was chosen personally by Michael Jackson and they have no control over the matter.

The doctor in-custody

Dr. Conrad Murray, the physician attending to Michael Jackson’s medical needs while on rehearsal was convicted of involuntary manslaughter due to the death of the King of Pop. Reports and testimonies proved that Murray was treating Jackson with propofol, a substance used for anesthesia, for the singer’s insomnia problems. Experts witnesses stated that Dr. Murray had no specialization whatsoever in insomnia cases or even drug addiction, which Jackson was allegedly suspected to suffer from in secret.

Daniel Wohlgelernter, an expert cardiologist stated that Murray did medical malpractice when he used propofol as a means to treat Jackson’s sleeping problems. He also added that Murray failed to maintain the standards needed for Michael’s treatment. All in all and the bottom line is that Murray was not sufficiently qualified to take care of Jackson’s needs. The end result of such nuisance and carelessness of the physician herein convicted felon Murray, substantially added to the cause of death of the King of Pop.

AEG’s liability

The jurors have yet to determine AEG’s liability in Michael Jackson’s death. According to Dr. Christopher Rogers, the doctor who did the autopsy on Jackson’s body, there were no signs or indication that would lead to any premature death. He also added that there were no marks or indicators showing that Jackson was addicted to drugs that used needles or anything related to the matter.

This finding and testimony of Rogers is a very important fact that will surely give weight to the damages being incurred and would be shouldered by AEG Live if found liable. According to Jackson’s attorneys, it can be contended that the King of Pop should have made more money through records and endorsements for the remainder of his life if not for his untimely death.
