DeGeneres posted on her Twitter page this Friday that she is coming back to the 86th Academy Awards as host for the second time in Oscar history.

Everyone’s been waiting for the final decision on who will host the 2014 Oscars. This announcement finally put an end to months of talk and speculation. The Oscars is broadcast live in almost 200 countries with millions of people watching the ceremony every year.

The comeback

Taking on the Oscars stage requires not only a sense of humor but the ability to connect with a live audience as well. It’s a bit daunting to stand in front of Hollywood celebrities and millions more across the globe watching from their homes. With her years of experience as the host of The Ellen DeGeneres Show, Ellen is indeed qualified to take on the center stage of the Academy Awards once again. She did it once and got an Emmy nomination for her efforts.

Full of wit and charisma, Ellen DeGeneres will surely be a hit at the Oscars. Her first appearance in the Academy Awards as host was in 2007 and she proved to be fit for the job.

The producers want Ellen

According to Craif Zadan and Neil Meron, acclaimed producers of the 2013 Oscars, they are very thrilled to have Ellen DeGeneres. Both Zadan and Meron are friends with Ellen and have long wanted to do a project with the talk show host. With Ellen, Zadan and Meron teaming up to make the 2014 Oscars fresh and exciting it surely is a night to look forward to. Zadan and Meron consider Ellen as possessing of a very rare gift when it comes to comedy. They also said that Ellen has the ability to bring something new and exciting since she is loved and adored across the globe.

Styles of hosting

The 2013 Oscars was hosted by Seth MacFarlane, the multi-talented creator of Family Guy and Ted. MacFarlane’s hosting style was witty with a hint of raw sarcasm that made the program a hit. Statistics showed that there was a 2% increase in viewer ratings when MacFarlane took to the stage and gave the viewers something they have never seen before. Next year with DeGeneres at the helm, the hosting is expected to tone down a few notches from McFarlane’s. Ellen’s comedic hosting style is more comparable to that of veteran Oscar host and comedian Billy Crystal who dominated the center stage of the Academy Awards for many years.

Distinct and defined

DeGeneres’ hosting of the 2001 Emmys brought her prestige and recognition when she displayed a sense of commitment and emotional engagement while delivering serious thoughts through comedic lines. With 21 million followers on Twitter, a successful talk show program watched by millions, Ellen DeGeneres is more than prepared to host the awards ceremony next year.
