The Duchess of Cambridge is now at the last few weeks of pregnancy with the baby expected in mid-July. Reliable sources familiar with the plans revealed that 31-year old Catherine, Duchess of Cambridge intends to give birth to the Royal heir at the same hospital where the Duke of Cambridge, her husband was born. Prince William was born to the Prince and Princess of Wales 31 years ago at St. Mary’s Hospital’s private Lindo Wing in Paddington, West London. His brother, Prince Harry was born in the same hospital as well. The Duke is reportedly accompanying his wife in the delivery room to support her during delivery of their first child.

Lindo Wing has been operating as a provider of private neonatal and obstetric care since 1937. It is part of the National Health Service alongside the Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust.

Protocol details

Details of the Royal birth protocol were recently revealed. Royal sources said that the first announcement that the arrival of the third in line to the British throne will be given once the Duchess is admitted to hospital while on the first stages of labor. Upon birth, Buckingham Palace will display an official notice to the public. Before the public bulletin is displayed, Elizabeth II, Her Majesty the Queen and the grandmother of the Duke of Cambridge will be informed of the circumstances of the royal birth. The other family members will be duly apprised as well.

The formal bulletin is to be signed by the medical staff of St. Mary’s Hospital. This will be rushed to Buckingham Palace via automobile accompanied by a police escort. The notice will be displayed on an easel at the forecourt of the palace for everyone to see. This notice will also bear the first official confirmation as to the gender of the royal infant.

The next official announcement that will be released by Buckingham Palace will inform the public of the discharge of mother and child from the hospital. It is predicted that the new parents will present the newborn baby to the world at the same spot in front of the hospital’s Lindo Wing where in 1982 proud parents Prince Charles and Lady Diana showed off their firstborn, William.

Royal expectations

Royal sources also revealed that the couple Prince William and the former Kate Middleton are eagerly awaiting the child’s birth to learn of its gender. Sources close to the Palace said that both want to be surprised until the baby is born. Preparations for the arrival of the royal baby are already underway. There are no confirmed plans as of yet with regard to where the royal couple and their firstborn will be spending the weeks following hospital discharge.

William on paternity leave

The Duke of Cambridge, formerly Prince William of Wales is turning 31 on Friday. The Ministry of Defense is expected to allow him a two-week paternity leave from the Royal Air Force. Afterwards, he will be reporting back to work as a helicopter search and rescue pilot.
