Iker Casillas Praises Keylor Navas

Real Madrid goalkeeper Keylor Navas continues making history with an amazing performance during last Sunday’s match against Atlético de Madrid.

During the derby, the Costa Rican goalkeeper blocked a penalty, committed by Sergio Ramos at 20’, and taken by Antoine Griezmann. Navas guessed the direction of the hit, and sent the ball out of his goal with a spectacular stretch. This prevented the Atlético de Madrid to tie the score.

Even though the match ended with a 1-1 score, thanks to Luciano Vietto at 82’, Navas continues to be the least defeated goalkeeper of the season in the Spanish La Liga, with only 2 goals received in 7 fixtures.

Former Real Madrid goalkeeper Iker Casillas praised Navas’s performance: “Keylor’s form has been fantastic, he is having a very good season. It is not an easy position, more so in recent years, but Keylor, with his experience and his way of playing, is doing well”, Casillas commented in an interview in Madrid this Monday. “I hope he does really well because that will be good for the team.” Casillas added. Rafael Benitez, Real Madrid’s coach, said he’s “delighted” with Keylor Navas.

The result of this match puts Real Madrid on the second place in the Spanish La Liga, right below Villarreal.
