BlackBerry was believed to be on a tough spot for a whole particularly since the competition is pushing all the way to the top and gaining more traction than the Canadian mobile phone company could manage. Last year, on its BlackBerry Live event that was formerly known as BlackBerry World, it revealed some very interesting things to look forward to. And this year, BlackBerry is ready to kick-off anew and prove to the world that it is still a competitor in the mobile tech race and will not be easily taken down.
Reports are saying that the BlackBerry Live 2013 held last May 14 had lots and lots of surprisingly entertaining updates regarding new products and advancements in their OS.
Powerful yet affordable
BlackBerry executives always thought of expanding their target market in order to cater to those consumers that want to use BlackBerry but has a tight budget. This is said to be the primary motivation behind the launching of the BB Q5 at the BlackBerry Live 2013. Powered by the latest BlackBerry 10, the new Q5 has jam-packed features at an incredibly low price.
The BlackBerry Q5 is designed specifically to provide fast and accurate typing with its new QWERTY keyboard style. The 3.1 touchscreen is perfectly fitted to ensure high quality retina display and functionality. The Q5 is also capable of capturing pictures and videos and turning it into movies via BlackBerry’s Story Maker. BBM is also now capable of switching into video mode with sharing functions. BlackBerry World is thriving with tons of applications, which the Q5 is perfectly fitted to have.
According to BlackBerry’s CEO, Thorsten Heins, the new BlackBerry Q5 will be available this coming July in selected markets in the Middle East, Europe, certain parts of Asia and in Latin America.
BlackBerry 10’s future
BlackBerry made a huge leap when it launched BB10. This move has made it possible for the company to cover some lost ground as well as gain enough resources to bounce back in the race. The more recent mobile phones like the Z10 and Q10 as well as the Q5 broke the shackles holding BlackBerry down. According to recent updates, the company is now starting to gain momentum and is now on the verge of releasing BB10.1 in the weeks to come.
No updates for Playbook
Since the poorly launched Playbook, BB did not really put too much attention to giving updates or even revamps on their tablet. According to CEO Hein’s there will be no more reason to use tablets in the next five years. This statement is clearly suggesting that the company is no longer including the development of tablets in their platforms.
Looking at the finish line
Reports indicated that CEO Thorsten Heins is aiming to put the company not just on track but at the very top. According to Heins (who injected a number of F1 metaphors in his speech) the company will do everything in order to get the first sighting of the checkered flag at the finish line.
