Argentinian-born Messi, the World Player of the Year, attacked a loose ball in the 50th minute and then netted an amazing free kick during minute 37 to propel Team Barcelona to the win.

Scoring 300 goals is a big thing in the football world and this is something that Messi has been aspiring for since he started playing. In 2012, Messi upset Gerd Muller’s record of 85 goals for the year.

Lionel Messi’s Impressive Performances

Lionel Messi started with Barca in the year 2004-05. He made goal number 1 for the Catalans’ first team when they played against Team Albacete in May of 2005. He entered the football world with a bang and gained tens of thousands of followers until he suffered from a torn thigh during the Champions League at Chelsea.

Messi also set the European record for the most number of goals per season in 2011-2012 with 73 goals. Shortly after, he set the goalscoring record of 50 goals while playing in just one La Liga season.

Lionel Messi’s Awards

Lionel Messi also scored the most goals in the 2005 FIFA World Youth Championship. The following year, he was hailed as the youngest Argentine in the FIFA World Cup. In 2006, he clinched a runner’s up medal at the Copa América tournament, where he also happened to be the youngest player in the field.

By the year 2008, Lionel Messi already had an Olympic Gold Medal when he played for his country’s Olympic football team. To date he is considered as the most marketable athlete
