After another well played season, football superstar Cristiano Ronaldo has been  measured – literally. This is for his wax sculpture, which is intended for display at Madrid’s Wax Museum. A pair of professional sculptors has carefully measured every inch of Ronaldo’s body. This is only the first step towards wax immortality for the football icon.

Making a sculpture the old fashioned way

With the evolution of tools and technology, carving or making a sculpture had never been easier. There are machines specially made to create molds of whatever shape and size the artist would want to create, or recreate in the case of wax replicas.

The artists hired to create Ronaldo’s wax replica used an old technique that goes way back in the Renaissance era. According to some sources, Ronaldo grinned after seeing the tools that would be used to measure his entire body. The superstar was probably expecting something more like an x-ray scanner or some hi-tech device for measuring a person’s body dimensions. But this was not the case. Only paper, pencil, tape measure and compass were used by the sculptors and for them it was good enough to do the job.

The immortal pose

Replicas and sculptures are mostly created with a distinctive pose. Some artists prefer to portray and mimic the common activities and mannerisms of the person being made into a sculpture for authenticity and vividness. What it would be always depends on the decision of the subject.

When Ronaldo was asked what pose he would like to be immortalized in, the footballer was unsure as to what he wanted. He was of the opinion that his replica be made simple and natural rather than depicting an elaborate pose. Ronaldo elaborated that it would be better if the wax replica would portray him standing on the field with his legs slightly apart and his head just looking straight.

This is not the first time Ronaldo has been made the subject of a wax replica. The London Museum of Madame Tussauds has a piece already, and is it widely popular among the visitors.

Is he staying or leaving Real Madrid?

Cristiano Ronaldo has been named as one of the finest football players the world has ever seen. According to Real Madrid’s President Florentino Perez, Ronaldo is on top of his game and is currently dominating the world of football. The Real Madrid star player is always being compared to FC Barcelona’s Lionel Messi. According to Ronaldo, the two of them cannot be closely compared to one another since they have different styles. And to further elaborate his point, the Real Madrid superstar made use of car brands to further elaborate the distinction between them.

It has been rumored that Cristiano Ronaldo is being scouted by Manchester United and is planning to put the Portuguese star back in their ranks. In defense, Real Madrid’s President, Florentino Perez clarified very strongly that they have no intention to give Ronaldo away to any of the rivals. Perez also revealed that La Liga is pulling some strings to give Ronaldo a very productive career enabling him to stay at Santiago Bernabeu.
