Cristiano Ronaldo secured his spot in Real Madrid once again by signing a new contract that will tie him to the club for the next five years. His contract is effective until 2018 giving Ronaldo ample time to give Real more wins. The signing occurred on Sunday and everyone including Ronaldo and Real President Florentino Perez happily celebrated the momentous day.

Highest paid footballer

Ronaldo has been for many years the highest paid player in football history. In 2009, his transfer to Real Madrid from Manchester United amounted to $131.6 million dollars. He became one of the most sought-after players in football due to his tenacity and inherent talent in the sport. His performance and leadership proved worthy of every dollar spent by Madrid to get Ronaldo in the team and to keep him playing for them. He has been doing his fair share to show why he is so much valued. Ronaldo is doing his part in giving Real the glory it deserves.

This year, Gareth Bale joined Real Madrid and broke Ronaldo’s record as the highest paid footballer on the planet. Bale’s transfer fee shockingly exceeded Ronaldo’s when he left Manchester United for Real in 2009. However, Ronaldo secured the distinction once again in his contract renewal with Real.

All praises

In terms of winning, Ronaldo has greatly contributed to adding to Real Madrid’s titles through the years. According to the football ace, he considers his renewal to be similar to his first day in the club. He also added that giving his best to the shirt he wears and for the team he plays with will always be his top priority. Ronaldo’s contract renewal is giving the footballer the motivation to strive harder and deliver beyond expectations.

Real’s Perez assures Ronaldo’s place

Ronaldo also praised the greatness of Real Madrid and hopes that he will be part of the club until he reaches his retirement. The feeling is shared by Florentino Perez, President of Real Madrid. Perez expressed his joy of having Ronaldo and the rest of the team. Perez commented that the best football player in the world will always and forever be part of Real. Real will always be his home, Perez said.

Double team

The previous season gave Real Madrid a very disappointing ending. Real dropped off in the semifinals after Borussia Dortmund took the win. Barcelona won the title in the end.

This season however started differently for Real Madrid. The Club started strong with an unbeaten performance at the very start. Joining Ronaldo in Real was newcomer Gareth Bale whose performance in past games stole Perez’s attention. Bale and Ronaldo played together for the first time in Saturday against Villareal. Both exhibited wonderful performances with a point each that allowed Real Madrid to take the lead. The game ended in a tie though, despite Bale’s promising debut performance and Ronaldo’s usual skill.

Even though Real was not able to secure a win in that game, Real fans are still looking forward to the team’s upcoming games especially now that Ronaldo has reaffirmed his commitment.
